In the early hour of Saturday 10 July 2021 a heavy downpour causes unconfirmed numbers of houses to submerged by flood in Mai-Gwoi area of Jalingo, Taraba
The affected communities is located in central of Jalingo the state capital, near a river bank. It was gathered that flooding has not been recurring but probably cause by the heavy downpour.
An eye witness disclose to our correspondent that “Apart from losing houses, crops and properties worth Millions of naira have either been submerged or destroyed by the rampaging flood which is not showing any sign of receding soon,”
Mallam Abdullahi Mairogo, a resident of the affected area, whose house was flooded by the flood, appealed to the state government to look into the situation. According to him, “if we allow this flood unchecked, it will sooner than later sack all the people from their homes, as most people do not have the financial muscle to keep rebuilding their houses in this current harsh economic conditions of Nigeria.”
