Chief Marcellinus Nlemigbo, the Imo State Chairman of All Progressive Congress, APC, has given reasons why the political party proceeded with its ward congresses despite an alleged order of Federal High Court, Abuja, which reportedly restrained it from conducting the Congresses in the 305 wards of the state insisting that the political party never violated any Court order as they did not received any.
Nlemigbo told The Authority in his Umudagu Mbieri near Owerri ancestral home that the wards Congress went on because the party was not served with the certified true copy of the Order purportedly issued by the Federal High Court.
According to him, Mr. Okay Anyikwa, the applicant is not known to the party or a member of the APC in Imo State inview of the party’s last membership registration and revalidation exercise.
According to him “Anyone who did not participate in the just concluded membership revalidation and registration exercise undertaken by the political party is not a member of the party” he said it point blunt.
This newspaper also gathered that Chief Anyikwa who is being accused as a proxy to Senator Rochas Okorocha, the distinguished Senator representing Imo West in the 9th Senate is on a futile mission of discrediting the ruling party.
Anyikwa who moreso is claiming to be Chairman of APC in Ideato South LGA is said to have gone to Federal High Court, Abuja, where he sought and got an injunction allegedly restraining the APC in Imo State from proceeding with the conduct of her Congresses, on the basis of the judgement of the Appeal Court, that upheld the tenure of the State Executive elected in 2018 in which embattled, Chief Dan Nwafor an aide to Governor Okorocha is said to be the authentic chairman as against Chief Nlemigbo recently endorsed by Governor Uzodimma and NEC of the party
Thus, despite the purported court injunction , wranglings, power play and ego supremacy, the conduct of the ward congresses went on unabated even though there are pickets of political skimirshes witnessed here and there.
