…Seeks Support Of Ministries of Justice and Commerce

The Managing Director of Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KSCPC), General Idris Bello Dambazau (Rtd) has synergized with security agencies, the Ministries of Justice and Commerce in the state in his bid to stamp out the menace, sell and consumption of fake, adultrated and substandard products and goods in the state.
General Danbazau who paid familiarization visit to the Assistant Inspector General of Police incharge of Zone One, Sadiq Abubakar Bello, in his Kano office, said the Council under his watch will do everything possible to ensure that goods and services being rendered to Kano residents are of good standard and quality.
According to him, “the main function of Consumer Protection Council is to enforce laws pertaining to consumers, therefore, it is very necessary to need the support of security agencies particularly law and enforcement agencies like police.
“Previously, my predecessor while taking over from him have emphasized how much he had been assisted and supported as a result of which he was able to achieve alot of success. Therefore, it became necessary for me to come and solicit for continued support to this agency so that we can continue to carry out our mandate and protect people from substandard, expired and other very bad products. This is essentially the purpose of this visit.”
He also commended the Nigerian Police particularly zone one, saying that inspite of all the security challenges in neighbouring states, the police in Kano and Jigawa have been able to maintain peace whereby people are able to go about their normal businesses.
Responding, the Assistant Inspector General of Police incharge of zone one, Sadiq Abubakar Bello, expressed appreciation over the visit which he described as timely and assured the Managing Director of his readiness towards continuing support of the agency in carrying out its activities in the state.
AIG Sadiq Abubakar Bello, added that, “one of the main functions of the Nigerian Police is to enforce laws and orders and to protect lives and properties of the people, so, in this regard I want to assure you as you sought for our cooperation that we are ready at anytime to do what we can do to make your job alot easier, we are ready to cooperate with you at anytime.”
He then congratulates General Danbazau for his appointment as managing director to head this wonderful organization.
In another development, General Danbazau also paid a similar visit to Kano State Ministries of Justice and Commerce.
At Ministry of Justice, he also seek for the support and cooperation of the ministry towards the successful operations of the activities of the council.
He stated that the moment he became the head of the council some places were visited as a result of reports received by some good citizens about their businesses and some of them responded with lawyers, that is why it became absolutely necessary for the council to work with the ministry of Justice.
On his part the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Musa Abdullahi Lawan assured the Managing Director of the ministry’s full support whenever the need arises.
“I assure you that the door of the Ministry of Justice is always open. We have no option, we have to work with you,” the commissioner added.
He advised the Managing Director to follow due process in discharging the duties of the council, saying that if due process is followed nobody will take them to court and succeed.
The Artonry General then commended Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for appointing the right person to head an organization that requires experienced and professional person.
While at the Ministry of Commerce the Managing Director solicited for more advises from the mother ministry of the council towards steering its affairs in order to continue recording more successes.
In his response the commissioner of commerce and industry, Barrister Ibrahim Mukhtar said as the mother ministry to consumer protection council, they will continue to accord all the necessary support and cooperation to the council for the successful conduct of its activities.
The commissioner also advised the new managing director to always use law and order in discharging the duties of the council in order to achieve the set objectives.
