A group of young men and women are canvassing for peace among Taraba appealing to all and sundry to embrace peace and unity in Taraba state and the nation at large.
The group, I Have Conscience Foundation (IHCF) which is being led by Ambassador Kayode Asher Adewumi, believed that through combined efforts , nations can strengthen their ideals peace.
Perturbed by the incessant skirmishes in Taraba and the nation at large which they observed had not only led to wanton destruction of property but also lives, such act, as suggested by them, must be brought to an end by allowing peace to reign.
To however achieve this, peace, as suggested by them must start from the homes , stating that “if there is to be peace in the home, there must be peace in the heart “.
The group who also beckoned at all and sundry to decide and live the life they were meant to live” urged them to avoid “chasing after those things that society has determined to be important because all the accomplishments in the world cannot replace inner peace. “
According to them “creating a world in which war ceases to break out seems impossible because of the sheer number of people who have not yet mastered themselves, who have not tamed their ambition to raise themselves up at the expense of others, and who have not learned to start from today onward, letting the past wrongs.”
Drumming on the need for all and sundry to have a change of heart by craving for peace and unity of the country and the globe at large , Nigerians, according to them ” need to have a fresh start and let go of all the past hurt by choosing to love again no matter what and respect humanity with humility. “
Citing late Desmond Tutu, Martin Luther king among others peace advocates, national governance, as stated by them , should be based upon the people and ruled by law to ensure the protection of human rights and dignity.
Aligning their weights to that of the group, other stakeholders who includes security chiefs, traditional rulers among others, said the much desired peace is possible if all Nigerians irrespective of ethnic differences, religious and cultural beliefs and political affiliations can put aside their various differences.
The group who are presently are in the nooks and crannies of Taraba state advocating for peace, said the same action is as well ongoing in the federal capital territory, Kaduna state as well as in Illorin the capital of Kwara state.
