Group Plans Solidarity March for Military

Following successes recorded by Nigerian Army in the anti-insurgency war in the country, Global Peace Movement International UK has concluded plans to hold a solidarity march in support of the soldiers in UK, Italy, USA and Nigeria.

GPMI President General, Dr. Mike  Uyi in a statement on Friday said the need for the march to honour the Nigerian Army’s effort in eradicating insurgency and other criminal elements cannot come at a better time than now.

“We will forever appreciate the Nigerian Army for the patriotism demonstrated over the years in defending and fighting insurgency and other criminal elements”

Appreciating the Army’s efforts, he further stated that at a point it became difficult to believe that terrorism could be wiped out of the country within the next two decades, however according to Uyi, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya’s administration has brought hope to the entire country.
“We wish to state that the invaluable efforts of the Nigerian Army under Lt. General Faruk have been outstanding given the enormity of the task at hand.

We salute his bravery and commitment to addressing these security concerns”. “It must be stated that ending acts of terrorism, banditry and other security challenges does not rest on the shoulders of the security agencies alone, but rather every stakeholder in Nigeria has a role to play in ensuring that Nigeria defeats terrorism, banditry and other acts of criminalities in the country”.

Uyi also hailed the declaration of bandits as terrorists, nothing that the pronouncement is a welcome development, even though doing it has long been overdue. It is going to make a huge difference.
