Anambra APC crisis: CECPC hands Sen. Uba party structure

The crisis in the Anambra state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was at the weekend deepened as the party’s National Caretaker and Extra Ordinary Convention Planning Committee ( CECPC), may have officially handed the party’s structure on the state to senator Andy Uba.

Senator Uba, who was the APC governorship candidate in the last November 6, goverorship election on the state has been battling for the control of the Anambra APC with another faction led by Minister of Labour and Employment, senator Chris Ngige, and former National Auditor, George Moghalu, who is also the Managing Director of Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).

Senator Uba’s structure in a CECPC backed state convention at the weekend, elected incumbent state caretaker chairman, Basil Ejidike as the new state chairman of the party.

Also elected through a voice vote are Ifeanyi Osegbue as Deputy Chairman, Chidi Orji as Secretary, Calista Nwachukwu as Treasurer and Chukwunonso Chinwuba as Legal Adviser among others.

It was gathered that congress, which was witnessed by a committee set up by the CECPC led by Hon Friday Nwanozie Nwosu, was conducted through a voice vote, affirming Ejidike and members of his immediate past executive.

Nwosu said: “This is the APC congress, and today the national leadership sent us to come and conduct it. We have a seven-members committee sent here to conduct this exercise, and the assurance is that the congress will be of your will and we will conduct the Congress according to your will.
