Borno govt lauds NECO for conducting credible exams, assures of massive support

The Borno State Government has commended the National Examinations Council (NECO) for conducting credible and reliable exams over the years.

Governor Babagana Zulum who gave the commendation during a courtesy visit on him by the Registrar/Chief Executive of NECO, Prof Dantani Wushishi in Maiduguri on Tuesday, promised to render all necessary support and assistance to the exam body to enable it deliver on its mandate.

A statement signed by Head, Information and Public Relations Division of NECO, Azeez Sani and obtained by The AUTHORITY, said Zulum represented by his Chief of Staff, Usman Shuwa, enjoined the Council to embark on more sensitization and enlightenment campaigns to educate the public on the activities and mandate.

On the request made by the Registrar that the state Government should consider making NECO examinations compulsory for all public schools in the state, the Chief of Staff assured the Council that the request will be given due consideration.

Earlier, the Registrar, Prof. Wushishi had assured the Governor of the Counci’s readiness to partner with the State Government to enhance the educational development of the State.

Prof. Wushishi commended the state government for the prompt payment of SSCE( Internal) Registration fees of candidates from the State since the inception of the present administration in 2019.

He appealed to the state government to make All NECO conducted examinations compulsory for all public schools in Borno State.

According to him,”it may interest you to know that Borno State does not fill it’s quota for admission into Federal Unity Colleges nationwide, to meet up the state quota, it is required that all public primary schools should write the National Common Entrance Examination”.
