PDP accuses APC of plots to scuttle Area Council election in AMAC

The  Federal Capital Territory (FCT), chapter of the opposition  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised alarm over alleged plots by the ruling All Progressive party, (APC) to cause  confusion and violence inorder to scuttle elections in FCT.

Speaking yesterday in a press briefing  in Abuja, the PDP Director of Media in AMAC, Honourable Emmanuel Inyang, explained that his party has unravelled plots by the APC) to manipulate INEC to work in their favour before, during and after the council polls.

Honorable Inyang further appealed to all security agencies in FCT to step up their security strategies, alleging plans by the APC to use thugs to harass, beat up and if possible cart away ballot boxes during elections.

“We have credible security reports which revealed that thugs have been recruited by some money bags to create confusion and cause chaos and violence during FCT elections,” he stated.

Inyang however, reminded President Muhammadu Buhari of his earlier promise to leave Nigerians with a legacy of credible elections.

Reacting to a statement credited to the incumbent chairman of AMAC, that his party must produce his successor, he said: “It is Nigerians that elect who they want to serve them in every political office,” stressing that the statement lack political weight and should be ignored by all.

On the security situation in the FCT, Hon. Inyang lauded security agencies for the relative peace in the territory warning them against attempt to compromise, even as he commended INEC for providing elegible voters with basic knowledge required to cast their votes transparently without fear of favour and intimidation.

It will be recalled that the INEC had recently concluded arrangement to conduct Area Council Election by 12 February, 2022..
