The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammad Musa Bello, has commended Corps members over what he termed their “superlative efforts” during the just-concluded Area Council elections.
He made the remarks at the passing out Parade of the 2021 Batch ‘A’ Stream I corps members deployed to the FCT.
The Minister who was represented by thr Mandate Secretary, Social Development Secretariat and Chairman NYSC FCT Governing Board, Hajia Hadiza Mohammed Kabir, also said that the “Corps members displayed commitment and hard work towards the socio- economic development of the FCT”.
The Minister urged them to take seriously the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training during their service year and excel in their chosen skills so as to become employers of labour.
In his introductory address, the NYSC FCT Coordinator, Alhaji Suleman Abdul, urged the general public to join in the clarion call for the establishment of the NYSC Trust Fund which has passed through the second reading at the National Assembly.
He explained that the Trust Fund will reduce the burden on the government in terms of funding the Scheme, and provide millions of jobs for Youths with Start-up Capital for entrepreneurship.
The Coordinator pointed out that 2 corps members out of the 3,311 passing out are to receive awards for outstanding performance during the service year.
55 corps members are also to be sanctioned for non-conformity with the NYSC Bye-Laws.
Present at the occasion where the Director (Youths), Social Development Secretariat, Hajia Asabe Umar; NYSC Directors, Heads of Federal establishments, Ministries and Agencies.
