Delta: Ibori’s daughter fails to clinch House of Reps ticket at first vote

It was a show of strength between former Delta Governor, James Ibori and a combined team of forces against her political dominance in Delta State, as his daughter, Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, will seek a second ballot as she could not defeat her challenger, Ben Rolland Igbakpa at the first poll in her efforts to secure the PDP ticket for Ethiope federal constituency on Sunday

The first poll produced no clear winner for ticket, as the two contestants, tied at the end of the contest held in Oghara, Delta State, with 34 votes each.

Igbakpa while reacting to the result via his Facebook page post thanked God for the polls.

The PDP was however yet to take a position on the next plan to pick its candidate for the constituency, on whether to stage a re run or otherwise.

Meanwhile, the state legal adviser of the party, Bernard Odion was elected to fly the party’s ticket for Isoko federal constituency after polling 23 votes to defeat the incumbent, Jude Ogbimi, who polled one vote.

The election was however marred by invading gunmen who stormed the venue in three Toyota Sienna buses, shortly after the primary election results had been declared.
