President Buhari In Kano: Condoles  With Victims Of Last Week Explosion

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday commiserated with the families of the victims of the the Kano explosion that killed nine people and left 11 wounded. 


The President was primarily in Kano to attend  the Annual Airforce Day Celebration.


He seized the opportunity to pay a courtesy call to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero where he sympathized with the families of the victims of last week explosion in the state. 


President Buhari said he was in Kano to commiserate with Emir of Kano,  Kano state government and the good people of the ancient commercial city  over the unfortunate explosion. 


 He, however,  commended Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for his proactiveness in securing lives and property in the state. 


President Buhari said: “I am in Kano to condole the emir over the unfortunate incident that claimed some lives and to commiserste with the families of the victim. 


“I pray for affected families and also praise the state government for being proactive.”


In his remarks, Governor Ganduje briefed President Buhari how the state government has been assisting the families of the victims of the explosion.  


Representatives of the affected families were also at the Palace of the Emir of Kano where President Buhari personally consoled  them.  


According  to Governor Ganduje,  “as soon as the incident occurred, the state government took immediate action to save those affected and protect the affected area as well. 


“Nine people died in the gas cylinder explosion and eleven others were injured. 


“The state government gave N9 million to the affected families, N2 to those injured some of who are at the Greenfield Specialist Hospital and the Armed Forces Specialist Hospital, N1 million to those who are mildly injured. 
“More so, there are properties close to the scene that are affected that include two buildings that are damaged, they were given N2 million, and the Winners Academy Nursery/Primary School that were given N1 million.”


 Emir Aminu Ado Bayero  expressed appreciation to President Buhari for the condolence visit and prayed for peace and stability in the country.
