From Maduabuchi Nmeribeh, Kano
The Zonal Youth Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for North West Zone, Abdulhamid Umar Mohammed, has described as false and cheap blackmail rumours by “unscrupulous elements,” that the gubernatorial primary election in Kano state was marred by violence.
The party youth leader who said his group monitored the primary election in Kano and others states in the North West, insisted that from their findings and observation, the exercise in Kano was among the most peaceful, free and fair, across the country.
He wondered why some people decided to spread malicious rumours with a view of giving the party in the state a bad image.
According to him through a Press Statement he personally signed: “Before the conduct of gubernatorial primaries in All Progressives Congress (APC) across states, my officev, Office of the North West Youth Leader, organized Monitoring Teams and dispatched them to the states under my jurisdiction, namely; Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Sokoto, Katsina, Zamfara and Kebbi, to promote transparency and accountability in the exercise.
“Our preliminary finding shows that, there were hitch-free and credible elections in those states. We used the exercise to call the attention of party leaders and delegates for proper conduct of election, which they all did. The exercise was commendable.
“My office received reports from all the seven states. I want use this medium to commend all party leaders in those states, representatives from natlonal headquarters of our great party and officials from lndependent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who supervised the entire process.
“I want be specific also about Kano, being one of the states that conducted free, fair and most credible gubernatorial election. Kano party leaders performed wonderfully well as delegates who conducted themselves in decent way,
“Kano state primary election for gubernatorial aspirants was indeed one of the best conducted exercise not only in North West zone, but across all states of the federation.”
