The speculations of the exact governorship candidate of the Labour party(LP)in Enugu state in the 2023 general elections between Barr Chijioke Edeoga, Aero Capt.Evaristus Nnaji and some others, was yesterday settled, as the National leadership of the party at Abuja confirmed Barr Edeoga, as the authentic governorship candidate of the party in Enugu state.
Barr Edeoga equally won the re scheduled governorship primaries of the party held at Top Ten hotel,Golf estate,Enugu, later yesterday.
Though he was the sole candidate of the rescheduled primaries, but in compliance to the electoral act provisions, the acceptability of his candidature was tested on the ballot box. He emerged with 81 valid votes cast during the primaries.
The rescheduled Enugu state Labour party guber primaries was necessitated by the withdrawal of Barr Casmir Agbo who had earlier emerged as Labour party candidate for the 2023 Enugu state governorship election for personal reasons.
It could be recalled that both Barr Chijioke Edeoga and Capt Evaristus Nnaji, both of whom keenly struggled for Labour party ticket had contested the PDP governorship primaries but were both dissatisfied with the process through which Dr Peter Mbah was was produced as Enugu PDP flag bearer. Consequently they moved into Labour party after resigning their membership of PDP.
The confirmation of Edeoga as LP governorship candidate in the 2023 Enugu state governorship election yesterday, turned his Enugu residence a political mecca of sort as his party officials, Support Groups. friends and well wishers joined him in the celebration.
Speaking as a group known as “Take Enugu back, 4 Gburu Edeoga” paid him a courtesy visit,Edeoga assured that if eventually he is elected as governor of Enugu state in 2023,he will beam his searchlight of development that would return Enugu state to it’s lost glory in the rural communities.
Edeoga said his administration will revitalise rural health care in the communities by training manpower from those communities, who after his or her training period,will be deployed to work in his rural community, to man and make effective use of the government equipment to better the lots of his people.
According to him, his administration will end the culture of medical tourism in Enugu state by providing land and other enabling environment that will attract foreign investors to build a first class medical center in Enugu state.
He equally to restore the lost glory in the public primary and secondary schools in the state. Edeoga assured his administration will take bold steps to reactivate moribund state owned industries and building new ones as a measure of generating employment for the unemployed youths and strengthening the economy of the state.
He commended the Director General of the Support Group “Take Enugu back,,,4 Edeoga” led by Hon Nnamdi Anigbo for the initiative of garnering grass root support across the state in support of his candidate,describing the initiative as “Labour of Love”.
Speaking earlier,the Director General of ” Tske Enugu back,4 Edeoga”Hon Nnamdi Anigbo,who was the 2007 Enugu PPA governorship candidate, described Barr Edeoga as a visionary leader with capacity to turn around the economy of Enugu state for the better.
Prior to the congratulatory visit of the group to Edeoga,Anigbo and his executives had successfully concluded the inauguration of local government coordinators of “Take Enugu back, 4 Edeoga” at Dragon Event Center “located at 82 division of Nigerian army relaxation arena,Enugu.
