Farmers group meets NCWS over capacity development

The Newbreed Livestock Farmers and Marketers Association (NELFAMA) has met with the leadership of National Councils  on Women Society (NCWS) to explore ways that would help in building the capacity of members in new farming techniques.

During the courtesy visit, president of the association,  Nuradeen Danlami said the farmers group was established in 2021 with major focus on uniting strategic stakeholders in livestock business in Nigeria.

This, he said would help promote the moral capability of members and image of the country within and abroad.

Danlami explained that the future of Nigerian’s economy must be taken more serious, especially in areas of agriculture related activities.

On his part, the national organising secretary and member Board of Trustees, Mohammed Ibn Yusufu stated that the group was out to bring sanity in the livestock market.

Yusufu said the association would position the sector for effective contribution to the national economy.

“The association key areas of service include and not limited to the best practice of livestock breed, training programs for women in poultry and farming, small and large animal husbandry and animal disease control.

“It will support the federal government in food security and poverty alleviation programme and boost the national economy, food production and job security with special designed programmes”

The president stated that there are  special training programme that are designed for the good of all. 

Responding, the president, Women Society (NCWS) Hajia Lami Adamu Lau, described the farmers group as a big projects that women are needed to drive it well.

“This is a big project  that involves Nigerian women, which we have been looking for, how to empower our women? And make them self-reliance”
