Six staff of Kano state Ministry of Environment have received commendation certificate, cash and material gifts from the state Commissioner of Environment, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso, who recognized and appreciated their efforts for hardwork, discipline and dedication to duty in the month of August.
Dr. Getso said the initiative is designed to boost the morale of workers in the ministry, and as well, encourage discipline, hardwork and commitment while discharging their duties.
The beneficiaries who include street sweepers, tricycle riders and Private Sector Partnership officials, were fetted with cash and gifts of textile materials.
Those honoured include, Malam Ahmed Haruna (Best Street Sweeper), Sani Adamu (Best Supervisor), Kabiru Idris, Yusuf Usman, Rabiu Abubakar (Best Tricycle Riders), and Alhaji Umar Nuhu (Baban Bola) who emerged as the Best PSP official.
A Statement signed by the Director of Public Enlightenment in the Ministry, Alhaji Ismail Garba Gwammaja, indicated that, “presenting the certificate of commendation, shadda brocade and cash incentives to 3no. Street sweepers, 3no. tricycle riders and 1no. PSP names Baban Bola during the monthly sanitation exercise meeting held today (Friday) at the conference hall of the ministry.
“The Commissioner for Environment Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Getso, said this is a new innovation introduced by the ministry with a view to improve the performance of the staff on duty regardless of their cadre for others to tighten their belts and do the needful, he said.
“Dr Getso further explained that, the awardees was carefully selected base on their track record of services render in different part of the metropolitan roads to sanitize our environment and our dear state, he emphasised.
“While commenting on their hardwork and dedication to their assigned duty post, the commissioner maintained that, his ministry will continue to identify and fish out hardworking staff that excel in their area to be honour every month during the routine monthly meeting for all stakeholders to witness.
“He therefore, charged them to reciprocate the kind gesture by been committed and steadfast to their assigned duty, he urged.
“Responding on behalf of the awardees Alhaji Umar Nuhu Baban Bola expressed their deep appreciation for the honour and for finding them worthy to receive the award and pledge to continue to put in their best to ensure clean and safe environment in Kano.”
