Kano Information Commissioner Promises Speedy Completion Of 30-corner Shops At State NUJ Press Centre

Kano state Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, on Friday, promised that the ongoing construction of new 30-corner shops and total rehabilitation of the Press Centre of Kano state Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), would be completed in good time.

Malam Garba who inspected the projects, said Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s administration is well disposed to supporting journalists in the state.

The project was initiated and sponsored through the office Malam Garba who was two-time chairman of the Council and two-time National President of NUJ.

He expressed delight over the pace of work at the site and encouraged the contractor to speed up the project and ensure quality work.

He also harped on the need for the project to be delivered at the scheduled time.

The Commissioner further stated that the idea behind the project is to enable journalists earn more revenue that would continue to give them financial independent, and as well help in the discharge of their duties.

He said the state government through his office has ensured adequate mobilization of the contractor handling the projects, which also include the total rehabilitation of the NUJ Conference Hall.

The state Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim, who conducted the Commissioner round the projects in the company of the chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Comrade Ibrahim Garba, commended the quality of work at the project sites.

Comrade Abbas who thanked the state government for the project, used the occasion to admonish journalists to conduct themselves professionally as the electioneering campaign kicks off.
