Kano State Commissioner for Information and spokesperson of the Gawuna/Garo Campaign Council, Malam Muhammad Garba, has described the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kano, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna and other candidates vying for various elective positions under the party as best hands that can ensure good governance and proper dispensation of democratic dividends in the state.
Malam Garba, particularly urged women and youths to come out en mass and vote for APC candidates during the 2023 general elections as they have the numerical strenght to decide who emerges winner, going by data from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He spoke on Monday, while declaring open, a one-day sensitization seminar for Social Media Influenzers in Kano.
Malam Garba was the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion.
He, however, observed that the Social Media Space is gradually undermining the conventional media.
The Commissioner called on the Influencers to get more educated, receive training and re-training so that they could play the expected role in informing the public on government activities, at all levels.
According to him, APC candidates in Kano in the 2023 general elections are not comparable to other candidates in the two major political parties in terms of experience, exposure and human relations.
The Commissioner said with the level of consolidation of most of the elective positions in the state, all that the ruling APC needs, is to further sensitize voters on the importance of exercising their franchise during the 2023 elections.
He stated that very few states in the federation had this far retained their elective positions that included members of the National Assembly, state legislators and chairmen of local government councils.
Malam Garba reiterated the fact that women and youths have greater advantage to decide winners in the forthcoming elections, and tasked social media Influenzers to use effective application of communication technology to educate and influence the public.
In his remark, Chairman of the Forum, Tijjani Sani Amasco, said the seminar was organized to sensitize members of the group on the importance of publicizing activities of the government.
He expressed satisfaction with the level of support the group was enjoying from the government and appealed for the consideration of their educated members in terms of employment opportunities in the state civil service.
The seminar also featured another presentation on “Effective Use of Social Mredia to Secure Facebook Account” by A’isha Abdulhameed of Facebook Inc.
The AUTHORITY reports that a group of Social Media Influencers trained during the seminar, have been equipped to assist in enlightening and educating the people on the laudable policies and programmes of the APC administration in the State as the campaigns kicks off in full gear.
