Ganduje Presents Over N245.31 Billion 2023 Appropriation Bill Of Consolidation And Prosperity (11) To Kano Assembly

Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on Friday, presented N245 , 31, 516, 94.08 billion appropriation bill, to Kano State House of Assembly for the 2023 fiscal year.

The 2023 propsed budget christened Budget of Consolidation and Prosperity (11) is over N45 billion higher than that of 2022 tagged Budget of Consolidation and Prosperity (1).

Presenting the budget before the State House of Assembly, Ganduje said the Capital Expenditure is projected at N144, 67, 219, 360.01 billion, representing 59 per cent, while Recurrent Expenditure was put at over N100billion, representing 41 per cent of the entire budget.

“The budget is to further consolidate on policies implemented by the government towards economic growth and improving the well-being of the citizens,” Ganduje said.

Giving a breakdown of the budget, Ganduje said the Education sector gets the lion share with N62 billion representing 27 per cent of the total budget.

Ganduje however said the health sector got the second highest allocation with over N39.1 billion followed by works and infrastructures with N35 billion.

Others include Agriculture sector with N19.9 billion, Water Supply with N15 billion and Security, Law and Justice with N12.8 billion among others.

In his remarks, Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Engineer Hamisu Chidari, promised immediate passage of the Appropriation Bill.

The Speaker said the House of Assembly leadership will do everything possible to enter the Appropriation Bill is passes into law before January 2023.

He appealed to members of the Civil Society Organizations, the general public and other stakeholders to come forward and contribute their own quota for speedy passage of the proposed budget into law, to ensure continuous development for Kano State and its people.
