Fifty Six years after, Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has asked voters in Gombe state to see in him a personality with the capacity to reignite the achievement of first Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Late Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.

Atiku pledged to bring back the developmental strides of the late Prime Minister, end insecurity, reactivate the Dadin Kowa Dam, reconnect Gombe to other states through road network and ensure that there is a conducive environment to trigger economic development in Gombe state.

Atiku made the pledge on Monday in Gombe during the PDP Presidential Campaign Rally which took place at Gombe Township Stadium, Gombe, Gombe State.

Speaking to the teaming party supporters, Atiku said that he will revitalize the Dadin Kowa Dam to increase agricultural production and rebuild the economy.

He said, “Let me reiterate the promises we made if by the grace of God, you support the PDP. We promised to empower business men so that it can expand the businesses of our young men and women.

“We also promised you that the Dadin Kowa Dam which was built by the PDP to provide electricity and irrigation is activated for electricity and irrigation.

“I will enhance farming so that our farmers will have the opportunity to farm both during raining and dry seasons.

“We will make sure that all the roads linking Gombe to Adamawa with Borno, with Bauchi, with Yobe are reconstructed. I will ensure that we build roads to enable smooth trip within these states and ensure that commercial activities thrive, for the purposes of enhancing trade and commerce.

“I will return peace to the state because without peace all these pledges that I made cannot be actualized. I will wipe out Boko Haram. Book Haram is nothing. We have wiped out Boko Haram in Adamawa, what will stop us from wiping out Boko Haram in Borno or Yobe or anywhere they are in this country. Therefore, give us the mandate” Atiku begged Gombe electorate.

He said that he will re-enact the old days of late Abubakar Tafawa Balewa if he is elected the next President of the country.
