Yuletide: CP Mamman Dauda Rejoices With Kano Residents, Promises Adequate Security

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mamman Dauda has rejoiced with Kano residents as they enjoy the yuletide festive period, promising to ensure provision of adequate security.

He said police, in synergy with sister-security agencies, have mapped out strategies towards ensuring that Kano residents enjoy peaceful celebrations.

The police boss, also reiterated the ban on the unlawful sale and use of fireworks, car-racing, illegal horse riding.

He directed Traffic Officers to be committed to ensuring free traffic flow during the Christmas and the New Year festive period

According to him, “The Kano State Police Command wishes to inform the public that as Christmas and the New Year festivities are about to be celebrated, adequate security arrangements have been put in place to ensure a serene, peaceful and secure festive period.

He further stated that: “The Command enjoins the good people of the State to note the following; Unlawful sale and use of fireworks popularly called bangers or knock-outs and burning of tyres before, during and after the Christmas and the New Year celebrations are completely prohibited.

“Parents and guardians are advised to warn their children/wards.

“Road users are advised to continue to abide by all traffic rules and regulations, drive carefully and avoid car racing.

“The Command reiterates that the ban on all forms of illegal horse riding (kilisa) is still in force.

“Members of the public are advised to be security conscious, report any suspicious person(s) or item(s) to the nearest Police Station for necessary action, or call the Command’s emergency numbers.

“The Commissioner of Police directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Tactical Commanders of the command to sustain raids of criminal hideouts and black spots and round-the-clock visibility patrols.

“The Commissioner of Police also, ably represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, DCP Mua’zu U. Mohammed, in a meeting with all Area Traffic Officers (ATOs) and Divisional Traffic Officers (DTOs) directed Officers to ensure the free flow of traffic before, during and after the festive period.

“He charged Officers to exhibit a high level of professionalism and ensure that the rights and privileges of citizens are respected in line with the laws of the land.

“The Commissioner of Police appreciates the good people of the State for their prayers, understanding, support and cooperation.”
