By Daniel Tyokua

The chairman Governing Board of Niger Delta Commission (NDDC), Lauretta Onochie has said the days of corrupt acts in the commission are over.

She said under her watch, portfolio and splitting of contracts would not be accepted.

Onochie stated this, Tuesday in Abuja, when Buhari Support Organizations organised a congratulatory dinner in honour of her appointment as the board chairman.

The board chairman promised to initiate projects that will have positive impact on the Niger Delta people especially the youth.

“I’m very happy to be in the disciples of president Muhammadu Buhari, everybody knows that he is incorruptible, the way he has gone about running this country since 2015, it has shown that he means well for the country.

“Buhari has made my going to NDDC very easy, going there was tough but he has made it smooth. He ordered the forensic audit and the country was in shock when the result came out.

“The days of giving portfolio contracts are over, there won’t be splitting of contracts again. We are going to get the best for the Niger Delta people, teaming young people that have graduated for long but have no job, it will be addressed.

“There won’t be room for militancy and criminal activities because they will be properly engaged.

“We will train them on the requisite skill, so that they will get their businesses started and become employers of labour”

In his remarks, the chairman Buhari Support Organizations (BSO), coordinators forum, Umar Shuaibu, said the NDDC chairman appointment was a well deserved one, considering her contribution to the success of president Muhammadu Buhari’s administration since it inception.

He said Mrs Onochie is incorruptible, which her emergency will change the way of doing things.

“I believe, she is going to be a game changer in Niger Delta. A new Sheriff is in town. It is not going to be business as usual in the area.

“Anybody that says is not comfortable with APC or Buhari is because is not getting his way. We that are part of the government are seeing the difference. We have achieved a lot in this government but our distractors don’t see anything good.

“With the changes in Niger Delta especially the 2nd Niger bridge, previous administrations fail to complete it. But this present administration has done it”

Shuaibu advised her to stand firm to ensure that she replicate her qualities in the commission.
