Kano: Gawuna/Garo Campaign Council Receives Hundreds Of NNPP, PDP Defectors To APC In Shanono And Bagwai Local Government Areas

It was a feast day for the All Progress Congress (APC), on Tuesday, when the Gawuna/Garo Campaign Council stormed Shanono and Bagwai Local Government Area, receiving hundreds of members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The defectors declared their support for the governorship candidate of APC, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and other candidates of the party vying for elective positions in the area.

The elated Gawuna who was moved by the mammoth crowd that graced the campaign rally hinted that more than 4,000 farmers will benefit from the Watari dam irrigation project provided by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s administration.

According to him, Ganduje’s administration has provided over 1000 hectares of land around the Watari dam located in Bagwai Local Government Area to boost irrigation farming.

The APC gubernitorial flagbearer who is also the Deputy Governor of Kano state, said provision of the land was as a result of the recent renovation of the Watari dam by the State Government in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank.

Gawuna further stated that the project was executed when he was the Commissioner of Agriculture under Ganduje”s administration, adding that the gesture was aimed at providing employment to the people and boosting the economy of the area.

He also charged the youths in the area to take advantage of the initiative and embark on irrigation farming in order to become self-reliant and employers of labour.

Gawuna also promised the people of Shanono and Bagwai that he would continue with the laudable programmes of the Ganduje administration such as development of agriculture, education, infrastructural development, healthcare delivery, youths and women empowerment, if elected as the next Governor of the state.

In his remarks, Gawuna’s running-mate, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, expressed gratitude to the people of the two Local Government Areas for their continued cooperation and support for Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Dr.Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna and the Senator representing Kano North, Senator Barau Jibrin.

He also urged the people of the Kano North Senatorial District to continue to support the APC by voting for the party at all levels during the forthcoming general elections.

Also speaking, the state Chairman of APC, Prince Abdullahi Abbas, commended the large turnout of people at the event, which he said was a testimony of the mass support for the APC in the area.

He also stated that the the mammoth crowd was a confirmation that the APC has already won the forthcoming general elections in the state.

Gawuna also presented the APC flags to candidates for the House of Representatives and State Assembly elections from the two Local Government Areas.

Highlight of the colourful campaign rally was the blaring of music by Fresh Emir and Fati Niger.
