Police parades  208 Suspects in Adamawa

With few days to the 2023 general elections, the Adamawa State Police Command recorded arrests of 208 suspected criminals in parts of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, S.K. Akande, disclosed Thursday, while parading  the suspects and the recovered arms at the police headquarters Yola.

He stated that the suspects were nabbed for armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, culpable homicide, adding that 108 of the suspects have since been charged to court.

According to the  CP, the command recovered seven AK-47 rifles, locally made pistol, live ammunitions, live cartridges, dane gun/pump action, SMG guns, vehicles, tricycles/motorcycles, military camouflage uniforms and hand bags.

Others include; mats, solar panels, lubricants, sheep skulls, padlocks/keys/chains, magazines, handsets, cutlass/knives/other dangerous weapon, domestic animals, among others.

CP Akande, said that early this year, the command renewed its commitment and designed a security template to deliver on the mandate of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba.

According to him, from January to date, the command’s operatives carried out tactical and intelligence-driven patrols, raiding of criminal hideouts, rescue operations, stop and search operations, community policing engagement of stakeholders among others.

“These operations yielded positive results and a total number of 208 suspects were arrested in connection to kidnapping, amed robbery, cattle rustling and other violent crimes, out of which 108 suspects were charged to court”. He added.

He appreciated the government and good people of the State for the continuous support they have been rendering to the command, assuring that all the suspects will be diligently prosecuted on completion of investigation.
