Alleged coup alarm: Fani Kayode to visit DSS office daily till further notice

…As DSS charge politicians to be mindful of utterances

 By Hassan Zaggi

Following the alarm raised by the Spokesman  of the All Progressive Congress (APC) campaign council, Fani Kayode, the Department of State Service (DSS) has directed him to return to its office on a daily basis until further notice.

This is the outcome of the invitation the DSS gave Fani Kayode which he honoured on Monday.

In a statement signed by its Spokesman, Peter Afunanya, the DSS warned politicians to be careful with their utterances so as not trigger unnecessary crisis in the country.

It would be recalled that few days ago, Fani Kayode in a tweet  alleged that some top army personnel met with some politicians, including the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, in a bid to scuttle the February 25 general election.

He added that the meeting might be part of an agenda to provoke a coup and establish a new and unconstitutional order in the country.

However, the DSS in its statement said: “The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby informs the public that it invited Chief Femi Fani-Kayode to its National Headquarters, Abuja, on February 13, 2023.

“The invitation was in respect of an investigation of some of his allegations and insinuations relating to issues relevant to National Security.

“Chief Fani-Kayode faced a Panel which interviewed him on the subject matter. Afterwards, the Service granted him administrative bail and directed that he makes routine returns to the Office with effect from Wednesday, 15th February, 2023 till otherwise. The investigation, however, continues.”

The DSS further advised political parties and their media managers “to apply restraint in their utterances and public communication engagements prior to and after the general elections.

“This is to avoid heating up the polity and evoking tendencies that could lead to violent reactions as well as undermine peace and order.”
