2023 polls: Reciprocate our good will, Natives tell Abuja residents

By Daniel Tyokua

Abuja natives, under the aegis of the Coalition of FCT indigenes and Stakeholders Forum have called on other Abuja residents to reciprocate their goodwill.

They spoke at the sideline of the last Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections in the Federal Capital Territory

The coalition stated this in Abuja on Tuesday, after an emergency meeting to discuss the outcome of the last Saturday’s presidential and national assembly elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Coordinator of the forum, Comrade Habakkuk Lukman lamented that the only seat the Abuja indigenes have at the national assembly has been taken away from them by other Nigerians, through “election conspiracy and rigging”.

Lukman noted that in the past, the Abuja indigenes have supported other Nigerians in the territory to win elections, but frowned that their support and goodwill is not being reciprocated.

He stated that the forum would direct all indigenous communities in the FCT to withdraw all support being enjoyed by other Nigerians, since they went ahead to conspire and vote against the only indigenous seat they have at the national assembly during last Saturday general elections.

He continues, “In the history of Nigeria, no state has accommodated other Nigerians more than we have done. We have treated them like part of us.

However, they have mobilized themselves to collect the only seat we are having at the national assembly without considering our plight”.

Though the coordinator did not mention names, but the New National Star gathered that it could not be unconnected with the upset in the FCT Senate, where Ireti Kingibe of the Labour Party (LP) is believed to be ahead of the incumbent Senator Philip Aduda of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded senatorial election in the FCT.
