The candidate of Labour party in the February 25 presidential election,Mr Peter Obi
assertion that the Presidential candidate of Labour party, in the February 25 presidential election,Mr Peter Obi,distances himself from the Enugu state governorship candidate of the party,Barr Chijioke Edeoga,in his bid to win the Enugu state governorship election is far from reality.
It can only be described as a mere political gimmick from the camp of Edeoga’s rivals to dampen his reputation and chances of winning the Enugu guber race before the highly rated’Obedient Movement’Enugu electorates.
The doubting Thomases were proved wrong over the weekend as members of Edeoga governorship Campaign train were the hallmark of Mr Peter Obi’s condolence visit to the family of late Oyibo Chukwu, the murdered candidate of the party for Enugu East senatorial district,at Umuode,Nkanu East local government area.
The condolence visit which started from Akanu Ibiam International airport, where Mr Peter Obi was treated to a rousing welcome by stakeholders of Labour party and a tumultous crowd had Edeoga dictating the pace and direction of movement to the acknowledgement of Mr Peter Obi, the National chairman of labour party,Senator Victor Umeh, Mr Kelvin Chukwu, the younger brother of the slain Oyibo Chukwu, who won the LP repeat primaries to replace his brother,Dr John Nwokeabia,Edeoga’s running mate,Hon Emeka Mammah, among other dignatories.
Though the trip was not for a political rally, but intermittently Peter Obi’s convoy with Edeoga stopped at populated settlements and markets along the route to receive ovations while urging the electorates to vote for Edeoga as next governor of Enugu state, Kelvin Chukwu as next Enugu East district senator and all LP candidates contesting the state house of assembly.
Previously, Mr Peter Obi in his tweeter page, while lamenting his inability to join the governorship candidates of labour party in their scheduled state campaigns, as he coincidentally accompanied his legal team to court, equally extended his good wills to Enugu state Labour party governorship candidate.Barr.Chijioke Edeoga, but the speculations that Mr Peter Obi keeps away from Edeoga’s governorship ambition persisted.
Even as Labour party has no factional leader in the state, since after the confirmation of Edeoga as the authentic govership candidate of Labour party,by the Supreme court of Nigeria.
