Polls: Police ban protest in Nasarawa state

The Nasarawa state Police command has taken measures to stop further embarrassing protests that have railed the outcome of the March 18 governorship election in the state, by announcing a ban on protests in the state

It would be recalled that protests have greeted the declaration of Governor Abdulahi Sule as re elected by the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC(

This was contained in a statement released by the State Police Public Relations Officer ,DSP Ramhan Nansel on Sunday in Lafia.

It would be recalled that Nasarawa state women and youths had intensified their protest, with a viral video of the day 4 of the protest, which featured them in nude, while praying and cursing those who were alleged to have taken their mandate away

The Police in the statement informed the general public that all forms of protest have been banned throughout the state.

“Therefore, all proposed protests under any guise are hereby prohibited. 

“The police command took this decision in order to prevent the breakdown of law and order and to sustain the peace currently being enjoyed in the state; as the intelligent report on security can no longer sustain any form of protest in the state.

“Consequently, parents and guardians are advised to ensure their children and wards do not violate this order as anyone caught shall be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.”
