Kano Governor-elect Receives Certificate Of Return, Says Contest “No Victor, No Vanquished”

From Maduabuchi Nmeribeh, Kano

Kano State Governor-elect, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Wednesday, received Certificate of Return at the Hajj Camp roundabout headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kano.

He called on those who contested against him to support his administration, declaring that for him and his party, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) the outcome of the contest was, “no victor, no vanquished.”

In his address while receiving his Certificate of Return, Abba said: “On behalf of myself, my Deputy and Members-elect of the Kano State House of Assembly, I wish to foremost extend our gratitude to Allah SWT for granting us the opportunity to contest and win this 2023 General Elections.

” Today, being the day I receive the Certificate of return as duly elected Governor of Kano
State alongside my Deputy and Members-elect of the State House of Assembly, is indeed
historic. I therefore want to thank you, the good people of Kano State across all walks of
life —ranging from civil servants, business community, members of the academia,
farmers among others— who always stood firmly by our sides despite the intimidation
and turbulence by the powers-that-be.

“The overwhelming love, support, understanding
and resilience you have shown by coming out en-masse to vote for us, and standing firm to
ensure that your votes count and choices granted, is highly appreciated.

” I want to assure
you that your wish is always our command. We would therefore in-sha-Allah reciprocate
the gesture by doing whatever necessary to make your lives better.

“Equally, I want to thank the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the
Security agencies such as the Nigerian Army, Police, DSS, Civil Defense etc, who stood firm in ensuring free, fair and credible elections.

“However, we have seen the unfortunate efforts played by some security operatives in
trying to undermine the electoral process. I want to use this medium to remind them that
their sole responsibility is to always defend the sanctity of lives, properties and interest of
the entire society, not to dance to the tune of some selected people.

“As such, I call on them
to henceforth conduct their duties with fairness and justice, and desist from siding
with any other political party.

“To my fellow contestants, the election period is over. It is now the time for us to join hands
together with a view to offering lasting solutions to the myriad of problems bedeviling
our dear State.

” For us at the NNPP, it is a “No Victor, No Vanquished” contest. I therefore
implore you to join hands with us in the spirit of unity and in the best interest of Kano State and Nigeria at large.

“Finally, I must commend the efforts of the electronic, print and social media personnel,
for the wonderful jobs they have been doing in publicizing our policies and initiatives to the
public, and the role they played in ensuring free, fair and credible elections.

“May Allah SWT reward everyone and grant us tenacity and wisdom as we pilot the affairs of
Kano State for the next four years, Ameen.”
