President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Globacom Chairman and philanthropist, Dr Mike Adenuga, Jr., on his platinum jubilee celebration.

In a press statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Friday, the President described Adenuga, who turned 70 on April 29, as “an entrepreneur whose charity and goodwill continue to inspire, attracting local and global recognitions, including three national honours, OON, CON and GCON”.

The President noted that Dr Adenuga was a man of courage, humility and dedication to nation-building, who always placed the interest of the nation and welfare of the people first “by ensuring that all his ventures and investments uphold human values of empathy, appreciation, trust and respect”.

President Buhari affirmed the “impact of Adenuga’s visionary leadership on Nigeria’s economy, setting the pace for investments in oil and gas, telecoms, real estate, banking, construction and hospitality, with remarkable presence in supporting entertainment, sports and African culture, within and outside the country”.

“I believe the numerous national and global awards bestowed on Adenuga are well deserved, including the highest individual honour for a private citizen in Nigeria, the ‘Grand Commander of the Order of the Nigeria (GCON)’, and many others of high note like ‘The Companion of the Star of Ghana” from Ghana and the ‘Commander of the Legion of Honour’ by French President, Emmanuel Macron”.
