Even as there are serious cracks in Peoples Democratic Party, Imo State Chapter that prompted 7 principal officers of the State Working Committee, SWC to resign en – masse last Sunday, barely five months to the State governorship election, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, said the political party is intact and described the resignation as a good riddance for a bad rubbish.
Anyanwu who’s the National Secretary of PDP and the State gubernatorial candidate of the party for the forthcoming November 11th INEC scheduled governorship election gave the assurance in his Amaimo Ikeduru ancestral home last Sunday during the celebration of his 58th birthday.
According to him, ” as the National Secretary of PDP, am used to this kind of mass resignation. I thought they were men of integrity, unknown to me that they don’t have shame. Probably, the money they got from sales of forms and other sundry means may have finished. They are just funny. Why resigning on Sunday and through a press conference ?.
” Am aware that earlier before the Sunday, they were negotiating with Governor Hope Uzodimma of APC for their preferred governorship candidate ahead of 2027. The party is stronger and intact. The truth is that, It’s their fundamental right to resign” he noted.
On the accusation that he single handedly selected his running mate, Hon. Jones Onyeriri, Anyanwu said that those accusing him of non consultation for the selection is just being economical with the truth as all critical stakeholders of the political party, including the SWC members were all in the know, which he said justified their endorsement of him when he was unveiled at the party’s Secretariat early last month.
The Governorship hopeful expressed optimism that his political party will definitely win the governorship election despite the distractions insisting that he only need God’s grace and the people to win reiterating that he has the grace and favour of God as well as the peoples support for the staggered governorship election
However, the thanks giving cum birthday anniversary of the National Secretary of PDP was a huge success considering the crowd and quality of politicians and personality that graced the occasion at his ancestral Anglican Church and his paradise on earth ancestral compound
