Deputy Speaker Kalu salutes ex-leader, Babangida at 82

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu has congratulated former military president, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) on his 82nd birthday.

Kalu in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS) Mr. Levinus Nwabughiogu, recalls the numerous roles played by the former military president in improving the political and economic developments of the country.

The Deputy Speaker said Gen. Babangida led Nigeria from the front as he courageously embarked on reforms to pull Nigeria out of political and economic doldrums.

He also said Babangida engraved his name on the sands of history by envisioning a diverse national community where every citizen would be judged not by their language or ethnic backgrounds but by the content of their character and contributions to Nigeria’s commonwealth.

Noting that Babangida’s era explored the strength and peculiarities of our diversity for national development, Kalu added that the vision of the former military president was essentially that of a united and prosperous country.

The Deputy Speaker wished General IBB a happy birthday in good health anqd happiness while praying to God to bless himqqqq with many more years.
