The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has called on directors in the Administration to be prepared to deliver in line with the renewed hope agenda of president Bola Tinubu.
He said directors in charge of traffic light, transportation and Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) must urgently take steps that will bring immediate results.
Wike gave the matching order when he received handover notes from the permanent secretary, FCTA, Olusade Adesola, yesterday.
The minister, said closing down of illegal motor parks, improved sanitation and functioning traffic light are issues to be addressed in the short term plan.
“Those in charge of traffic light, transportation and sanitation must sit up to do their work well. I will make the necessary provision for the work to be done.
“We will not allowed illegal motor parks all over the city, this is Federal Capital Territory, so things must be done well”
Wike told directors who felt they did not possess the capacity to deliver on their current tasks to seek redeployment to areas of their strength, adding that he would not take any excuses for failure.
In her remarks, the Minister of State for FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, said that with the support of the workers, what Wike has done in Rivers would be replicated in the FCT.
“I am of the firm belief that, together, and with your support, we will replicate what the Minister (Wike) has done in Rivers in the nation’s capital, especially at the Area Councils and Satellite Towns.
“This is so that the lives of our people in the rural areas will be positively touched.
“We will run with the vision of President Tinubu, which we will be unveiling as we hit the ground running,” she said.
On his part, the permanent secretary FCTA, Olusade Adesola assured the ministers of the unalloyed support of the entire staff of the FCT Administration in ensuring the actualisation of the mandate of the President Tinubu.
