A pro-northern group, the Arewa Stakeholders Consultative Forum (ASCF), says it has uncovered alleged plans by top Federal Government security officials to manipulate the upcoming Kogi State governorship elections in favour of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Murtala Ajaka.

The ASCF, a representative body of the Northern region committed to protecting the interests of northerners and ensuring the integrity of the democratic process in Nigeria, who made this known in a statement, called on President Bola Tinubu to address the situation and ensure a fair and transparent electoral process.

The ASCF’s in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Comrade Danjuma Paul, said that the statement served as a warning to those involved in the alleged manipulation plans, emphasizing that the people of Kogi will not tolerate any attempt to undermine their democratic rights. The ASCF, as a representative body of the North.

“It is crucial for President Tinubu to take immediate action and investigate the extent of involvement of officials within his government. If found guilty, appropriate sanctions must be imposed to deter any future attempts to manipulate elections,” he said.

The ASCF threatened that the identities of the collaborators would be exposed to the public, as transparency is essential in holding those responsible accountable for their actions.

“The ASCF’s will not hesitate to reveal the identities of those involved in the manipulation plans as our strong stance against any potential abuse of power. By doing so, the ASCF aims to safeguard the democratic principles upon which our nation is built. We warn that the ASCF will follow through on its promise, as the public has the right to know the truth and hold those responsible for any wrongdoing accountable.

“President Tinubu, as the leader of our nation, must recognize the gravity of the situation and act swiftly to address the concerns raised. The credibility of the electoral process is at stake, and failure to take appropriate action would undermine the trust of the people in the government and the democratic system as a whole.
