The Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo has approved the appointment of Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha as Acting Vice-Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU)
Mr Christian Aburime, Press Secretary to the governor revealed this in a statement.
Prof Omenugha replaces Prof Greg C. Nwakoby following the expiration of his tenure as Vice-Chancellor of COOU.
She is the second female Professor of Mass Communication in Nigeria and a Professor in the Department Mass communication, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
Prof Omenugha is the immediate past Commissioner for Education/ Basic Education in Anambra State for eight consecutive years.
She studied in Nigeria and the United Kingdom(UK) clinching diverse degrees in English, Religion, Education, Communication, Gender and Cultural Studies.
The new VC of COOU is also an alumna of Harvard Kennedy School, Boston, United States. Her foray into both local and international scenes has given her world a glocal outlook.
Also, Prof Louis Chukwuemeka Orakwue has been appointed as State Project Coordinator, Anambra State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).
