Benue state governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has sworn in 21 Interim local government Councils, with a call on them to justify the confidence reposed in them by being accountable and transparent while carrying out their responsibilities.
Addressing the appointees at the New Banquet Hall of Benue Government House on Tuesday Morning, the Governor said with their appointment, his administration has demonstrated determination to re-inject vibrancy in the administration of the local government system.
Gov. Alia said, “This day not only signifies the beginning of a new chapter in local government governance, but it also heralds a renewed sense of hope and progress for our beloved State”.
Expressing his heartfelt gratitude to all those who have tirelessly worked towards the realization of this council, the governor acknowledged their commitment to good governance and unwavering dedication to the betterment of our communities, saying, “Today, we are witnessing the birth of a new era, an era of progress, unity and prosperity for the people of Benue State”.
He pointed out to the new committees that, “as we embark on this new chapter, as Government we recognize the immense responsibility that lies upon our shoulders. Our primary duty is to serve the people, to be their voice and to advocate for their needs and aspirations. We must ensure that their concerns are heard, their rights are protected and their lives are improved. The people have entrusted us with their hopes and dreams and we must fulfill those expectations”.
He further urged the Chairmen and Members of the Interim Council, to “embrace this opportunity to lead with integrity, transparency and fairness, saying, your role is not merely administrative; it is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of the people you represent. I encourage you to listen attentively to their needs, to engage in meaningful dialogue and to collaborate with all stakeholders. By fostering an inclusive environment, we can harness the collective wisdom and strengths of our diverse population, ensuring a more prosperous future for all”.
“I express my confidence in your ability to lead and serve with distinction. Together, let us rise above limitations, break barriers and bring about positive change in our beloved state. May you be a beacon of hope, a catalyst for progress and a testament to the spirit of unity that defines us as a State”, Gov. Alia enthused.
