Umenzekwe mourns Okwadike Igboukwu, Ezeife, says Ndigbo, Nigeria have lost a great speaker, a patriot

From Cyriacus Nnaji, Lagos

Honourable (Chief) Modestus Umenzekwe (Onwa Achina) has joined millions of other well-meaning Ndigbo in particular and Nigerians in general in mourning the death of the First Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife (Okwadike Igboukwu).

Umenzekwe, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) while speaking to the media in his office in Lagos on Friday, December 15, 2023, disclosed that the news of death of the Anambra born politician came to him as a rude shock and said the former politician was indeed a patriot and a wonderful speaker.

“Ndigbo has lost a voice, a great speaker, they have lost a patriot, they have lost a leader, Nigeria at large, has lost an icon, it is most unfortunate that we lost him now that his wealth of experience in governance is needed mostly.”

He spoke further that the people of Igboukwu and Aguata, jointly, are mourning the demise of one of their shining light, an illustrious son, the patriarch of Ezeife dynasty, and therefore prayed God almighty to grant his soul eternal rest.

“The people of Aguata have been thrown into a mourning mood, but we cannot question God.
May the good Lord receive him in heaven,” Umenzekwe prayed.
