AVG disclaims arrested operatives

The Anambra Vigilant Group, AVG has loaded the men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command for their doggedness in apprehending those impersonating the state vigilante group, stating that AVG is not going to leave any stone unturned in sanitizing the outfit.

In a statement released by the AVG’s Public Relations Officer(PRO) Mr. Nweke Nweke on Sunday, he said the men in AVG uniforms arrested and paraded by the NSCDC are not members of the group, recalling that the local security outfit had before now, complained bitterly over the rate some youths are of impersonating the group in the state. 

Nweke said that the three men apprehended with the local security uniforms were not in any way traced in AVG record, the group made it known that all employed in the outfit have a known record as against those paraded by the Civil Defence Corps.

NSCDC, through its spokesman, Okadigbo Edwin(SC) over the weekend paraded seven arrested alleged impersonators, among them are men three with the uniforms of the Anambra Vigilant Group(AVG).

“AVG hereby makes it categorically that those paraded by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Anambra State Command recently are not in any way staff of the State Vigilante and I am challenging them if they are saying otherwise to name their commander and the area they were posted to,” Nweke noted.

AVG however, urged members of the public to disregard the claims of the suspects and not to link the accused impersonators to their fold, stating that a powerful monitoring unit has been created to monitor those who always wish to reap from where they didn’t sow.
