Thousands of supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu converged on Abuja on Tuesday for a large-scale solidarity rally organised by the Tinubu Mega Group (TMG) in support of the President’s second-term ambition ahead of the 2027 general election.
The gathering, tagged a “National Unity Rally” by organisers, drew participants from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, with organisers saying that more than 1,500 associations and support groups were represented.
The coalition comprised professional bodies, youth and women organisations, traders, artisans, civil society groups, grassroots mobilisers, and religious leaders, all expressing support for the continuation of the Tinubu administration beyond its current tenure.
During the event, the coalition announced what it termed the endorsement of “20 million Nigerians” for President Tinubu’s re-election, stressing that the administration’s economic and institutional reforms should be allowed to continue.
Speaking at the rally, TMG National Spokesperson, Tijani Ali Danjuma, described the gathering as a reflection of widespread public support for continuity in governance and national development.
Danjuma said the administration had shown determination in addressing longstanding national challenges despite current economic realities and global pressures.
He cited ongoing road and infrastructure projects, investments in domestic refining, economic recovery initiatives, social intervention schemes, and measures aimed at strengthening local governance and attracting investors as achievements of the administration.
“The student loan programme has opened new opportunities for young Nigerians. Efforts are ongoing to strengthen the naira, improve food production, and reposition the economy for long term growth,” he stated.
According to him, the turnout at the rally demonstrated that support for President Tinubu cuts across ethnic, religious, and regional divides.
“To those spreading false narratives and attempting to create division, our answer is simple, the people have spoken. Nigerians are choosing continuity over confusion and progress over propaganda,” he declared.
Also addressing the gathering, Dr. Tabuko Kennedy, who spoke on behalf of Nigerian professionals, said many experts across strategic sectors were supporting the administration because reforms require consistency to yield results.
Kennedy, who represented professionals including lawyers, doctors, engineers, academics, entrepreneurs, artisans, creatives, and technocrats, warned that discontinuing ongoing reforms could slow national development efforts.
He said the administration had shown commitment to economic rebuilding, infrastructure renewal, improved revenue generation, support for local industries, and youth empowerment initiatives.
“As professionals, we understand that difficult reforms are never easy at the beginning, but we also know that abandoning reforms halfway can damage national progress,” he said.
He further declared that “there is NO VACANCY in Aso Rock in 2027,” drawing loud applause from supporters present at the venue.
Speaking on behalf of the Christian community, Bishop Kola Oyedepo described the current period in Nigeria as one demanding patience, sacrifice, and collective responsibility from citizens.
The cleric urged Nigerians to avoid divisive politics capable of undermining efforts being made to reposition the country.
He said policies initiated by the administration, including economic reforms, infrastructure expansion, student loan interventions, and efforts to boost local refining capacity, were necessary steps toward national growth.
“Every wise builder must first lay a solid foundation. Nigeria today is in the process of rebuilding and restructuring its foundation for a stronger future,” the bishop stated.
Oyedepo also called for prayers and support for the nation’s leadership while backing continuity in governance.
“There is NO VACANCY in Aso Rock in 2027,” he added.
Similarly, Islamic cleric Sheik Abubakar Mustapha appealed to Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, and patience as the country undergoes reforms.
He acknowledged prevailing economic and social difficulties but maintained that meaningful change requires perseverance and courageous leadership.
The cleric praised the administration’s investments in infrastructure, governance reforms, educational support programmes, and local refining initiatives aimed at boosting productivity.
“We must not allow division, hatred, or politics of bitterness to weaken our country. Instead, we must support unity, peaceful coexistence, and responsible leadership,” he said.
Mustapha also supported the organisers’ position, saying Nigerians seeking stability and continued development recognise that “there is NO VACANCY in Aso Rock in 2027.”
Observers described the event as one of the biggest political gatherings held in Abuja in recent months, as supporters displayed banners and placards bearing inscriptions such as “20 Million Nigerians Support Tinubu,” “Continuity for National Development,” and “One Voice, One Vision, One Nigeria.”
The rally concluded peacefully with prayers offered for national unity, economic recovery, and democratic stability in the country.
