The Taraba State Tractor Hiring Unit (THU) has joined other stakeholders and residents in commending the developmental achievements of Governor Agbu Kefas as his administration marks 1,095 days in office.
The General Manager of the Unit, Engr. Danladi Shatalis, gave the commendation during an interview with our correspondent in Jalingo.
According to him, Governor Kefas deserves recognition from all well-meaning Tarabans for the impact of his administration, which he described as rewarding and people-oriented.
Shatalis highlighted key achievements recorded by the administration in the areas of education, agriculture, security, healthcare, infrastructure, and women and youth empowerment, among other sectors, noting that the progress made within three years demonstrates the government’s commitment to development.
He further stated that despite inheriting substantial debts from the previous administration, the present government has remained committed to ensuring the prompt payment of workers’ salaries at the end of every month.
The general manager also noted that retirees in the state have begun receiving their gratuities and pensions, benefits many had long lost hope of receiving before the emergence of the current administration led by Dr. Agbu Kefas.
Shatalis said residents of the state have every reason to support the governor in order to enable him realise his vision of making Taraba a model state.
In his words, “Gov. Kefas meant well for Tarabans, take a look at free education policy, security, agriculture and infrastructures alone, I’m sure we would begin to appreciate this kind gesture and work towards making sure to support him in order to succeed in all ramifications.”
Speaking on the challenges facing the Tractor Hiring Unit, Shatalis identified inadequate tractors to meet the increasing demand of farmers, especially as the farming season is underway.
He, however, appealed to Governor Kefas to treat the request for additional tractors as a matter of urgency to enable the unit meet its 2026 revenue target and enhance agricultural productivity towards achieving food security in the state.
The THU boss also listed the need for official utility vehicles, particularly Hilux vans, to facilitate effective monitoring of farmers’ activities across the three political zones of the state. He further called for improved office accommodation, noting that the unit’s current facility is in a dilapidated condition.
Shatalis expressed confidence that with adequate government support, the unit would surpass its 2026 revenue target and contribute more significantly to the state’s economic growth.
