Motor Show makes a debut in Lagos, as organizers sow proceeds to charity

It would be the first of its kind as all arrangements are on top gear for the maiden edition of the Lagos Motor Show even as organisers have decided to sow part of the proceeds to charity.

This was disclosed at a media briefing which was held at The Large House, Ikorodu, Lagos, on Thursday, 8th February, 2024.

Engr. Gbenga Adebayo, Chairman and Chief Promoter of Lagos Motor Show revealed that the Show would be an exhibition of Modern, Classic, Vintage Cars, Eco Friendly EV, Robotics and autonomous vehicles, Electric–Tricycles and E-mobility.

The Tech giant added that the two-day event is scheduled to hold at the Main Arena of Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan Lagos, from Friday 16th to Saturday 17th February 2024.

Adebayo said, “Part of the proceeds from this event and activities will be donated to charitable causes.”

He also stated that the Classic Cars Collectors of Nigeria, a community of over 100 classic and vintage car collectors and enthusiasts, would showcase their collections.

Adebayo further stated that there would be an exhibition of new innovation and developments in the auto Industry such as Internet of Things (IoT) in automobiles, energy efficient cars, Electric Vehicles and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered low emission vehicles, adding that the Expo would also showcase classic cars evoking ‘nostalgia’ and also highlight the latest trends and innovations in the automotive industry, even as the organisers said that they are expecting over 2,000 visitors during the two-day period.

Dignitaries expected at the event include His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwolu who would be the Chief Host, and the Executive Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum, His Excellency, Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq who would be the Special Guest of Honour.

Other dignitaries expected at the event include the Governors of Kaduna, Niger, Katsina, Bauchi and Jigawa States. Chief Olu Okeowo, Founder and Chairman of Gibraltar Constructions Company limited, a Car Enthusiasts, is also expected among other dignitaries.

The Royal father of the day is His Royal Highness, Barrister Mohammed Sanni Haliru Dantoro CFR. Kitoro IV. (Mai Borgu) the Emir of Borgu Kingdom.

Adebayo stated thatMotor companies, Motor Boat Companies, Car Collectors, Transport Logistics companies are also expected at the event. “The event will be an exciting opportunity to bring together car enthusiasts and their families, purchasers, decision makers and dealers.”

He also spoke on the objectives of the Motor Show “Our aim is that the show will be an annual event that will attract thousands of automotive enthusiasts, industry professionals, and media representatives.

“The highly anticipated event in the Nigeria automotive calendar, and will provide corporate brands with unparalleled visibility among industry leaders, influencers, and potential customers. It will record a high number of visitors who are automobile buyers, decision makers, motor enthusiasts, banks, insurance companies, small-scale auto-entrepreneurs, representatives of foreign trade missions and multinational companies,” he stated.

Speaking on the targeted Audience, Adebayo said that “This is an opportunity to engage with a diverse audience, including car enthusiasts, industry professionals, and potential buyers, offering brands the chance to connect with a broad range of demographics. The Show will offer an opportunity to interact with haulage, logistics, car hire companies, digital taxi companies, passenger transporters, financial institutions, Insurance, loans companies and other potential buyers and decision makers.”

He added that visitors to the Motor Show have opportunity to network. “Participate in exclusive networking events, connecting with key decision-makers, industry professionals, haulage, logistics, car hire companies, passenger transporters, and potential clients in a dynamic and engaging environment. Corporate organisations including banks, insurance companies, financiers, auto-entrepreneurs and representatives from foreign trade missions and multinational companies will be in attendance.”

Adebayo disclosed that security arrangement at the event would be top-notch. “In cooperation with the Lagos State Government Agencies, Security and Traffic Management Agencies, ease of access and egress to the venue will be guaranteed and security and safety of the entire exhibition area is fully assured.
