The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has stated that the period of project abandonment in the nation’s capital is over.
Wike, who gave the assurance during the Flag-off of the construction of 11.3km Yangoji-Sukuku-Ebo road in Kwali area council on Wednesday, said he would ensure that all abandoned projects in FCT area councils are completed.
The minister told residents of Kwali area council that the FCT administration would soon commence work on the abandoned stadium project and other projects in the area council to renew their hope in governance.
He maintained that rural residents in the FCT deserve to be provided with quality infrastructure that would restore their hope in government, adding that the administration would continue to take necessary steps that would help the people have hope in the administration.
The minister also told the contractor handling the road project, Gilmor Nigeria Limited, to employ the youths in the area which would help them have means of livelihood.
Earlier in a welcome address, the chairman of Kwali area council, Hon Danladi Chiya, said the area council has constructed and rehabilitated over 11.3km roads in parts of the area, even as it has equally graded about 13 km road in the area.
Chiya, however, pleaded with the FCT minister to complete an abandoned stadium project and other abandoned projects in the area council.
Also speaking, the Sarkin of Pai community, HRH Alhaji Abubakar Pai reminded the minister of the poor state of public schools and primary health care centres in the area.
The royal father said the public schools and public health facilities in the area have become an eyesore, and therefore requires an urgent attention and rehabilitation.
