Infrastructure dev’t: Group Canvasses support for Wike

A group, Crusade for Greater Nigeria on Poverty Eradication and Social Justice has called on the Federal Capital Territory Six Area Councils chairmen to support the minister, Nyesom Wike’s infrastructure drive.

President/ founder of the group, Engr Prosper Okafor said the recent flag off of road construction and promise of additional ones by Wike show the commitment of President Bola Tinubu through the minister to change the narrative in the territory.

He encouraged them to provide measures that will see to successful completion of the projects.

According to him, Wike’s approach to issues is an indication that the Nation’s capital under his watch will be different, if he is given the necessary support.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the president urged the chairmen, residents and other stakeholders to always play their role in protecting the multiple projects embarked upon by the minister.

Okafor said irrespective of religious, political and ethnic groups, well being of Abuja residents should be paramount to everyone.

According to him, since the creation of the Federal Capital Territory no serious attention in area of infrastructure has been given to people at the rural level but few days of Wike in office, has proven that better things are coming for all the communities.

He said the residents in the past thought they were forgotten but the current administration’s steps had renewed hope of residents in the political office holders.

The statement read’ “FCT Six Area Councils chairmen should support the minister of FCT Nyesom Wike to succeed his infrastructure drive. All the road projects are sited in rural areas, it is the duty of the people to ensure that the contractor and workers do not have obstacles.

“It is an opportunity that Abuja people must take serious irrespective of political, religious and ethnic affiliations.

“Wike is known as Mr project, his record in Rivers state, when he was the Governor, in area of projects is very clear, which is an indication that good things will happen in Abuja especially at rural levels s. It is time for the stakeholders to look beyond sentiment and work for the good of their people”
