BIPC demands remittance of N228m deducted from retirees

The Management of Benue Investment and Properties Company (BIPC) has approached the Benue state Head of Service, Dr. Moses Agbogbo Ode, to solicit for his cooperation to enable BIPC recover the two hundred and twenty-eight million naira (N228,000 000.00) deducted from retired civil servants but not remitted to the company.

BIPC Managing Director, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, accompanied by top management staff of the company, made the demand when they paid a courtesy call on the Head of Service on Tuesday at the State Secretariat in Makurdi.

He said, the money was deductions from the gratuity of retired civil servants, but which has not been remitted to the company.

According to the MD, “some occupants of the estates had complained of several deductions from their pensions and gratuities that had not been remitted to the company accounts”.

“This visit has become necessary as we are both working for the progress of the state and in compliance with Hyacinth Alia’s demand for accountability and transparent dealings in running the affairs of the state”, the MD maintained.

Dr. Asemakaha implored the Head of Service to expedite action to ensure the timely release of Certificates of Occupancy the company was pursuing with the State Ministry of Land.

The State Head of Service, Dr. Agbogbo Ode appreciated the Managing Director and his entire team for the visit and promised to attend to all the requests made with immediate effect.

He directed the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Welfare, Terna Ayu, to look into all the issues raised and treat them with urgency, assuring that they were poised to work in synergy with other state agencies for the overall benefit of the present administration.

Commenting, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Welfare, Office of the Head of Service, Terna Ayu, promised to look into the matter, assuring a positive response.
