ASTPA hails committee for befitting funeral for Ezeife in Abuja

The Anambra State Towns People Association (ASTPA), being the umbrella body of all the Anambra state town unions in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has not only appreciated the way and manner Ezeife Burial Committee in the nation’s capital organized funeral for her illustrious son, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife, but also thanked and hailed the Committee for a well planned funeral.

The President General (PG) of the Association, Chief Arinze Anadu (Nwachinemelu) commended the Committee, while addressing journalists recently in his office in the FCT 

Ezeife, a former governor of Anambra state and Special Adviser on Economic and Political Matters to the then President Olusegun Obasanjo died on 14th December, 2023 at the age of 86.

Still commending them for the well planned funeral in the nation’s capital, Anadu however said that Ezeife has contributed in no small measure toward returning the country back to democracy, even as he cited the former governor’s positive roles as a member of NADECO, in ensuring that democracy comes back to Nigeria.

Calling on sons and daughter of Anambra, Ndi Igbo and Nigeria in general to emulate the selfless life of the Okwadike Igbo – Ukwu, the Nwachinemelu however enjoined the Federal Government to name one of its institutes after Ezeife, based on his contributions to the development of democracy in Nigeria. He said that he believed that President Ahmed Tinubu would put his request into consideration, saying Ezeife was his colleague at the NADECO.

The Committee was chaired by a former governor of Enugu state and national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, who spoke at length on the marginalisation of Ndi Igbo of the South East. Nwodo however said that there was a need to put into consideration, equity, justice and fairness in the Nigerian project.

Service of songs on Friday, 12th April, 2024, by 5pm at Christian Centre Abuja;  Celebration of life and times of Ezeife on Saturday, 13th April 2024, by 11am at Eagle Square, Abuja;National night of tribute on 15th of April by 5pm at ThisDay Dome, Abuja and; his body leaves Abuja for Anambra on 18th, 2024.

However the rest of burial arrangements will be done in Igbo – Ukwu his home town in Aguata local government and Anambra state in general.
