Insecurity: Cleric calls for prayer, unity among Zamfara people

From Salisu Zakaria Maradun, Gusau

Leaders at all levels in the country have again been reminded of the need to be united and join hands together to face the challenges of the current insecurity, the wind of which blows from one angle to another like a bush fire.

They should also be honest to the people they lead by providing them with all their needs particularly education which is the bedrock of every development in the world.
Sheikh Tukur Sani Jangebe, an Islamic scholar in Gusau, capital of Zamfara State made the disclosure while speaking with The Authority at his residence during the week.

Jangebe explained that though it is a political era, it is important to note that human being is more important than whatever one thinks, and that as leaders, they will stand before the creator to give account of their stewardship.

According to the scholar, who was also specifically commenting on what transpires in Zamfara, accusing one another with regard to the present insecurity situation in the state is meaningless, adding that the most important thing is to come together irrespective of political inclination and face the challenges collectively.

He explained that despite all efforts made towards addressing the problem by both past and present leaders of the state, still the calamity has continued unabated. “This problem can only be addressed successfully through unity and prayer.

We have been telling those who matter as far as it is concerned (insecurity), to ensure they are united and also remain their brothers keepers, but sometimes they go contrary thereby politicizing it, and this is not the way it should be,” the sheikh added.

Commenting further, Tukur revealed that as long as the leaders failed to embrace unity and cooperation, there is a long distance to go, ” because no success can be achieved when the two ingredients are absent.”
On the part of government, the scholar reminded it of the need to exhibit honesty to the governed while the governed should be loyal and obedient to the government as enshrined in the constitution and all the remaining religious books.

He further stated that for the war against bandits to be won, the fear of God in the hearts of everyone is paramount as well as embarking on a massive prayer day and night for His intervention even as he commended both federal and state governments for their relentless efforts toward addressing the problem which has almost devastated the region of the north western part of the country.
