One year anniversary: Wike made me proud – Tinubu

By Daniel Tyokua

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, said the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike’s performance in the last one year has made him proud.

He said the massive projects in the territory under the watch of Wike, clear doubts from some quarters.

Tinubu stated this while commissioning the full scope development of arterial road N20 from Northern Parkway which connects airport road to Outer Northern Expressway popularly known as Kubwa Express way.

He recalled that before he appointed Wike as the minister of FCT, he received advice from several quarters that cautioned him against appointing Wike as FCT Minister, basing their argument on his capacity to deliver.

The president commended the minister for not only proving his doubters wrong, but for also giving his administration something to brag about in his one year anniversary.

Tinubu explained that the commissioning of the project is another testament to the actualization of his administration’s developmental agenda to transform every part of this country.

The 3.5km six lanes Arterial road in Jahi District, which connects the Ahmadu Bello way known as Kubwa expressway, to Umar Musa Yar’Adua expressway, also known as Airport, was renamed after Wole Soyinka Road by Tinubu.

On his part, the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, said the road was awarded in 2020 at the contract sum of 30.6 billion naira, which is the only road his administration ensured its completion without variation.

Wike said, ” I don’t want to talk politics now but I do know that it will be difficult for anybody to challenge you (Tinubu)in FCT. It will be very difficult. Well, the facts are there.

“The things are there. It’s not for fun. It is not about theory now, it is about reality. You said you would do this, have you done it? Yes. You said you would do that, has it been done? Yes. So, what are we talking about?”
