FCT Minister of state urge Corps members to be committed to progress

The Hon. Minister of state FCT, Dr.Mariya Mahmoud has urged Corps Members to be committed to the progress and development of Nigeria and leave a lasting legacy of positive change.

This was made known during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 orientation course held on Tuesday at the NYSC FCT permanent Orientation camp, Kubwa Abuja.

According to Dr. Mariya Mahmoud who was represented by Mandate Secretary, Social Development Secretariat and Chairman NYSC FCT Governing Board, Hon. Ibrahim Aminu, “It is expected that through your comportment and activities, you will provide model mentorship to our teeming youth and spearhead development oriented programmes which will complement the efforts of the government.”

Similarly, the NYSC FCT Coordinator Mrs. Winifred Shokpeka advised corps members to comport themselves in a disciplined and orderly manner, as any form of negative behaviour such as drug abuse and other anti-social acts will not be tolerated on camp and through out the service year.

Mrs. Shokpeka said, “To my dear prospective Corps Members, while commending your readiness to serve the fatherland, I wish to remind you that the orientation camp is regimented with different activities lined up for your strict compliance. The regimented nature of the orientation programme is designed to install discipline, physical fitness and strong leadership trails as well as entrepreneurial training for self-reliance through the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme (SAED).

Meanwhile, at the close of registration on Monday 1st July, 2024, a total number of 2473 Corps Members have been duly registered for the orientation course.
