Normacy has started to return in the Federal Capital Territory as the ongoing #Endbadgovernance protest enters day 8.
Checks by The AUTHORITY in the Federal Capital Territory Administration and Federal Secretariat on Thursday, revealed that office and business activities in those areas are picking up.
A trader at the Federal Secretariat, Segun Bello said, ” I can’t remain in the house without food, I am here to see how I will provide food for my family.
“People are not happy but life must continue, let the government do things that will make people happy”.
Recall that on the day one of the protests, there was pandamonium on the ever busy Abuja-Nyanya -Keffi Expressway, Kubwa and Airport roads as protesters dared security operatives.
The protesters, majority of whom were on motorcycles, stormed the Nyanya axis of the road chanting ‘ba muayi’ in hausa language meaning ‘we are no longer interested’.
They were wielding dangerous weapons, barricaded the road at various intervals with burning tyres while threatening to burn any vehicle trying to convey passengers out of the Nyanya park.
Security operatives comprising of the Police, Civil Defence and soldiers tried to prevent the enormous protesters from crossing to the Karu bridge section of the highway, but where overwhelmed.
The situation also left hundreds of passengers stranded at the Nyanya park as both commercial and private vehicles were disallowed from conveying passengers while the highway becomes the protesters abode.
In an effort however to ensure it does escalate into a violent situation, more trucks of soldiers have arrived and are fighting to bring the situation under control inorder to reopen the road.
The defiant protesters have however forced their way pass the Karu bridge and are currently marching towards Kugbo.
