Zamfara boat tragedy: Speaker Abbas mourns death of 40

The Speaker of the House of Representatives,Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has expressed deep sadness over the tragic boat mishap in Zamfara State, which claimed the lives of 40 people.

The incident occurred on Saturday in Gummi Local Government Area, where a boat carrying approximately 50 passengers capsized, resulting in the loss of 40 lives, according to the Zamfara State Emergency Management Agency (ZEMA).

Speaker Abbas described the incident as “one too many” and lamented the recent floods that ravaged Gummi LGA, displacing hundreds of people.

He sent his heartfelt condolences to the people and government of Zamfara State, particularly in Gummi LGA, over the unfortunate incidents.

The Speaker called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and relevant agencies to provide immediate relief assistance to the affected people and communities.

He urged swift action to mitigate the suffering of those affected by the boat mishap and floods.

Speaker Abbas’s statement came as he received the news of the tragic incident with a heavy heart, emphasizing his concern for the welfare of the affected communities.
