Tuesday, October 18, 2022, encomiums poured in like rain water across party lines as friends, political and business associates across the globe sent in congratulatory messages to celebrate a political philosopher, Chief Modestus Umenzekwe (Onwa Achina), a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and member, Federal Housing Authority (FHA) on his birthday and to also thank God for another year of glorious service to God, nation and humanity.
Umenzekwe who is known for his philosophical versatility in political discourses in virtually any matter in the country, has done a lot for APC as a party through his interviews, features and political analysis that are published in major publication genres in the country.
No wonder in his usual low-key lifestyle, Umenzekwe opted to celebrate quietly by thanking God for adding another year to his age. He was however was overwhelmed and amazed by the volume of messages of goodwill, birthday wishes and messages of encouragement urging him to continue his good work for his party, and mankind.
According to Chief Andy Azike (Ogbuji Opia n’ Akalabo), the frontline candidate for the House of Representatives, Aguata Federal Constituency under the Labour Party, he said “Today, I celebrate my beloved cousin, an ally and a great confidant, Hon. Chief Modestus Umenzekwe, who marked his birthday today.
“Chief Modestus Umenzekwe, Onwa is an icon and an illustrious son of Achina and Aguata, a refined statesman and an accomplished political strategist.
“Nwanne m, as you celebrate today, I wish you God’s choicest blessings, long life and prosperity.”
Another congratulatory message came from the frontline candidate for Aguata l under the platform of APC, Hon Anaedobe Okechukwu Johnbosco (Uga Na Uga).
Speaking glowing of Chief Modestus Umenzekwe, Onwa Achina he said “Onwa Achina is my good friend, a community leader and a voice to the voiceless who has used his resources to better the lot of lives and on this occasion of your birthday, I pray God to grant you longevity of life and immeasurable blessings”
Someone who commented on Facebook handle simply said “Chief, congratulations, this is big celebration, where are you celebrating, Sheraton, Federal Palace, Lagos Continental, Lagos Oriental. Chief you deserve the best. Just as a writer mentioned, you are a fine politician, but there is something he forgot to add, you are a refined homo sapiens, a wonderful gentleman to the core. May God bless and keep you and family, today and forever, Amen.”
In his usual way Umenzekwe thanked almighty God for protecting him and making him an instrument of raising national consciousness for need for peace, unity and politics without bitterness.
